Getting to Cardiff

✈ By Air

Cardiff Airport

  • Located approximately 19 km (12 miles) southwest of the city centre.
  • Travel time to city centre: 30–40 minutes.
  • By Taxi: Direct to city centre (approx. 30 minutes).
  • By Bus: TrawsCymru T9 service operates regularly to the city centre.
  • By Train: Shuttle bus to Rhoose station, then train to Cardiff Central.

Bristol Airport

  • Many international delegates may find more flight options into Bristol.
  • Located approximately 75 km (47 miles) from Cardiff.
  • Travel time to Cardiff: 1.5–2 hours.
  • Airport Flyer Bus to Bristol Temple Meads railway station, then direct train to Cardiff Central.
  • Direct coach services also operate between Bristol Airport and Cardiff.

For international arrivals via London airports (Heathrow, Gatwick), direct trains run from London to Cardiff (approx. 2 hours from London Paddington).

Cardiff Central railway station

Cardiff’s main railway hub with frequent direct services from:

  • London (approx. 2 hours)
  • Bristol (50 minutes)
  • Birmingham (2 hours)
  • Manchester (3 hours)

From Cardiff Central to the Centre for Student Life:

  • Cathays railway station is the nearest train station to the Centre for Student Life and has a direct train connection from Cardiff Central.
  • 15–20 minute walk from Cardiff Central.
  • 5–10 minutes by taxi.
  • Local bus connections available.

Advance booking via National Rail (https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/) or Trainline (https://www.thetrainline.com/) is recommended for best fares.

🚗 By Car

Cardiff is easily accessible via the M4 motorway (Junctions 29–33).

Estimated driving times:

  • Bristol: 1 hour
  • Birmingham: 2 hours
  • London: 3–3.5 hours

Please note:

  • City centre traffic can be busy during peak hours.
  • Parking charges apply throughout the city centre.
  • Paid parking is available on near the conference venue on Park Place and Museum Avenue.

Conference Venue Location

The conference takes place in the Centre for Student Life. The Welcome Reception on 28 June will take place at the Cardiff University Main Building. Both buildings are within walking distance of Cardiff Central railway station, major city centre hotels and city centre amenities.
