WP3: Promoting the employability of female students in Higher Education

led by Cardiff, Cairo and ASU University
Work package 3 focuses on the retention of female students in higher education. It consists of four main parts: the first part is the visit of the Principal Investigators (PIs) from Egypt and two students of ASU and Cairo University to Cardiff University to receive training on EDI by Cardiff University. This delegation of PIs and students will be responsible for disseminating the knowledge acquired with colleagues and classmates to help them in changing their mindset and, hence, inspiring their colleagues and friends.

The second part is offering internships for dental students in the field of healthcare inequality reduction and public health to increase their chances of getting employed. This will be done by the Cairo University team. The third part is offering internships in the field of condition monitoring for sustainable technologies, as this field is very challenging for female engineering students, so we can increase their chances of getting employed, as this field is trending due to the rise of the climate change crisis. Moreover, we build on the outcomes of the former project ‘Condition Monitoring for Sustainable Technologies and Climate Change Mitigation (CMST)’, which was funded by the United Kingdom (UK) – Egypt Higher Education Climate Change Partnerships.

The fourth part is the participation of Cardiff PI by visiting Egypt to exchange knowledge with a larger number of students and staff members through the “Cardiff-Ain Shams Universities forum for climate change”.
