{"id":854,"date":"2015-10-09T14:22:57","date_gmt":"2015-10-09T14:22:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/sdna\/?p=854"},"modified":"2015-10-09T14:22:57","modified_gmt":"2015-10-09T14:22:57","slug":"network-analysis-for-big-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research-sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/spatial-design-network-analysis-sdna\/network-analysis-for-big-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Network analysis for big data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Crispin gave an invited talk at Association for Geographic Information&#8217;s &#8220;GeoBig5: Big Data and You&#8221; conference on the links between spatial network analysis and big data.<\/p>\n<p>To summarize,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spatial network analysis leverages existing large datasets by extracting novel information from them.\u00a0 The mere shape of a road layout can tell us volumes about land use, travel demand and preferred routes.<\/li>\n<li>As every, nobody can quite agree on what Big Data is!\u00a0 (If computing these days is Big Data, does that make maths Big Sum?
