{"id":3,"date":"2025-01-21T12:06:01","date_gmt":"2025-01-21T12:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research-sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/reducing-gender-disparity-in-higher-education\/home\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T11:19:02","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:19:02","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research-sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/reducing-gender-disparity-in-higher-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>representation of women<\/strong> in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (<strong>STEM<\/strong>) has usually been <strong>lower<\/strong> compared to that of men.<\/p>\n<p>It was identified that five <strong>stages<\/strong> need to be considered <strong>in reducing gender disparity<\/strong> <strong>in STEM: Attraction, Recruitment, Enrolment, Retention, and Employment. <\/strong>The stage of <strong>attraction<\/strong> is addressed through the child <strong>project: Reducing gender disparity in STEM from kindergarten to Professional life,<\/strong> <strong>funded by the Wellcome Trust<\/strong> through the<strong> Ignite programme<\/strong> at <strong>Cardiff University<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/research-sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/reducing-gender-disparity-in-higher-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2025\/06\/Female-students-with-a-gilr-in-Manrobier-only-grass-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Y2 Environmental Geography students at Manorbier, Wales, UK, explaining their work to a curious little girl on the 2nd April 2025.
