Please note the conference is in-person only. Online/hybrid presentations are unfortunately not possible.

The organising committee of the Planning Research Conference 2026 invites authors and practitioners to submit abstracts or roundtable proposals that showcase recent research or professional insights related to the following conference themes:

• Planning theory and knowledge production
• Planning law, ethics, and governance
• Climate transitions and environmental planning
• Community engagement, participation, and co-production
• Gender and inclusive planning
• Housing and urban development
• Infrastructure, transport and mobilities
• Urban design and place-making
• Digital planning, alternative practices, and methodological innovation
• International, comparative, and historical planning perspectives
• Rural, regional, and countryside planning
• Planning education and pedagogy

We encourage submissions from scholars at all career stages and from diverse institutional and disciplinary backgrounds. Empirical, conceptual, and methodological papers are welcome, as are provocations that challenge established assumptions about the nature and purpose of planning as an academic field.

Abstracts should be approximately 200–250 words and should clearly outline the paper’s central argument and contribution to knowledge.
