DECIDE - Decoding Cities for Informed Decision Making
DECIDE is on the 14th International Space Syntax Symposium
30 June 2024DECIDE participated in the 14th International Space Syntax Symposium, held from 24th – 28th June 2024, at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia.
The Space Syntax Symposium explores themes in urban studies and building design, emphasizing evidence-based methodologies to address complex urban challenges, such as mitigating environmental risks, fostering quality of life, and ensuring equitable resource distribution through effective planning, design, and governance.
In the 14th edition, members of DECIDE contributed to more than 10 papers, establishing Cardiff University as one of the top contributors on the Symposium.
Through several transdisciplinary collaborations with international researchers from Algeria, Italy, Türkiye and Brazil, we delved on themes that range from: applied, such as territorial disparities, urban crime, urban climate analysis, socio-spatial analysis and disaster-risk management; to methodological, such as the introduction of new network metrics to Space Syntax and the improvement of statistical-based visualisation on current configurational measures.
